The DryPro PIC Line Vacuum Protector (Peripherally Inserted Central Line, usually used by patients who receive long term, intravenous medical treatments) covers the arm from the elbow to the armpit. Shaped like a long rubber sleeve (available in 5 different sizes), it covers the bandaged area of the arm completely and protects it from contact with water.
The PIC line protector allows patients to shower with complete confidence, with no fear of getting the arm wet. Patients can even swim and dive in the pool or ocean, despite their medical condition. Of course, these activities must be approved the patient’s physician (some patients are prohibited from entering the swimming pool for reasons other than concern about getting their arm wet, such as the presence of bacteria or various chemicals in the water).
The PIC line protector is made of durable (latex free) rubber that can be stretched to up to 6 times its original size. Shaped like a sleeve, the protector’s openings are narrower than the arm it covers. This helps the protector to fit tightly onto the arm and seal it completely. The pump that comes with the protector sucks the air from inside the sleeve through a special valve, tightening the sleeve around the arm and creating a vacuum. The vacuum also makes it difficult for the patient to remove the sleeve while in the water, and makes any air that enters the sleeve very easy to spot. Checking the sleeve’s water-tightness is therefore very simple: no air means no water!
The wide range of available sizes means the sleeves can be used by both children and adults.
The protector can be used by patients of all ages. It is, however, necessary to measure the leg to find the correct size that would allow the patient to get in the water comfortably and with complete confidence!

The PICC protector is available in 5 different sizes. It is suitable for patients with a PICC on their arm or patients that require part of their arm covered for any reason.
To find the correct size, measure the circumference of the arm just below the PICC and just above the PICC tube. Length measurements are unnecessary.
If your PIC line is very close to the elbow, measure the circumference 5-7 cm above and below the elbow.
